GED Graduate Rashard Allen and Ms. Peggie Darien

Rashard Allen enrolled with Adult Ed in January 2020 and has been a diligent student ever since. He and his teacher, Ms. Peggie Darien, worked endless hours, through successes and failures, until he finally passed his last exam, Math, and earned his GED. He is currently exploring options to attend Art School. Congratulations, and good luck in the future, Rashard!

Siblings Jacob and Jordin Tibbetts were students in Mr. Dowell’s evening GED class. They both quickly earned their GEDs within a few weeks of one another. They are only a year apart in age and are quiet and shy. but it was obvious when we met them that they have a close relationship. Jacob is studying for the ASVAB and hopes to enlist in the military by late summer. Jordin plans to enroll with the technical College of the Lowcountry, (TCL) to earn her associate degree, and then transfer to the University of South Carolina, Beaufort, (USCB)to earn a degree in accounting.

Britney Clifton recent GED recent recipient of her GED

Britney Clifton is a single mom working in retail who came to Adult Ed because she wanted to provide a better life for herself and her daughter, and knew the first step was getting her GED.  She only needed the ELA and Science to finish.  She started 6/1/21 as virtual student but realized this wasn’t going to work for her, so she began classes with Ms. Darien in January.  She finished her last exam on April 7th and earned her GED . She is in the process of enrolling in the EMT program at TCL and is scheduled to begin her classes in June on a full scholarship.  Her ultimate goal is to go into law enforcement. Through our partnership with WIOA, she is also getting additional assistance to cover childcare and other expenses so she can attend classes.
